Bite Sized Improvements For A New You

Q: How long does it take to improve yourself by 100% if you make 1% improvements at a time? A: Thanks to Compound Interest, it takes only 70 micro-gains (1%) to realize a 100% gain. So, if you make a 1% gain every day for 70-days you will double-up (101%). Do it for 365-days straight and you'll be unrecognizable at the end of a year (3,778%) Do you think YOU have what it takes to improve yourself by 1% every day? Here's an algorithm that you might want to consider for improving one aspect of your life in just one week. Repeat 10 times (70-days) and you’ll completely reinvent yourself in 2.5 months! Example: Sleep Monday Observe Urges to use restroom at night. Racing thoughts. Lights on full power until 10pm. Looking at news on iPad until 10pm. Headspace starts at 10pm. Alarm is set for 6am. Typically fall asleep around 11pm. Getting 7 hours of sleep (if lucky).

Tuesday Assess what works and what needs work Some of my habits prevent me from getting quality sleep. The habits are under my control and new ones may require buy-in/support from family members.

Wednesday Delete Consuming liquids after 7:30pm

Thursday Install Evening mind-dump journal

Friday Delete Bright lights & digital inputs while in bed.

Saturday Install Nightlight stretching & soft music at 9pm

SundayDefine New Identity "I'm the kind of person who can observe, assess, and adjust my behaviors for the better." "I'm the kind of person who can create the right environment for getting 8 hours of restful sleep each night." Pick anything about your life (within your control) that you'd like to improve and run it through the 7-day algorithm above. Some topics to consider:

  • Sleeping

  • Eating

  • Exercise

  • Breathing

  • Love

  • Energy

  • Work

  • Etc.
